Two weeks after its release, the augmented-reality game Pokémon Go has become a global phenomenon, and college students across the country are finding that their campuses are among the best places to play.
By using the GPS system and camera lens on a player’s smartphone, the free app tracks the player’s location and creates a virtual world atop the physical one, viewed through the phone’s screen. Campuses are prime destinations for players because of their landmarks, which often double as “Poke Stops” and “gyms,” essential spots for (Click on the title to see the full article)

It turns out all we needed to get Jon Stewart to return to late-night was have the Republicans nominate Donald Trump as their presidential candidate. (OK, so that was a pretty big ask.) On Thursday night’s episode of The Late Show, Stewart delivered a vintage, scathing retort to Trump followers and Fox News’ political commentators for their support of the real estate mogul.
Appearing from underneath regular host Stephen Colbert’s desk (he needed to borrow a clip-on tie, it’s been a while), Stewart wasted no time in sharing his thoughts on the Republican party. (Click on the title to see the full article)

The temperature in Mitribah, Kuwait, surged Thursday to a blistering 129.2 degrees (54 Celsius). And on Friday in Basra, Iraq, the mercury soared to 129.0 degrees (53.9 Celsius). If confirmed, these incredible measurements would represent the two hottest temperatures ever recorded in the Eastern Hemisphere, according to Weather Underground meteorologist Jeff Masters and weather historian Christopher Burt, who broke the news.
It’s also possible that Mitribah’s 129.2-degree reading matches the hottest ever reliably measured anywhere in the world. Both Mitribah and Basra’s readings are likely the highest ever recorded outside of Death Valley, Calif.
Death Valley currently holds the record for the world’s hottest temperature of 134.1 degrees (56.7 Celsius), set July 10, 1913. But Weather Underground’s Burt does not believe it is (click on the title to see the full article).

You need to look like something out of the Marvel comic universe to survive a fatal car crash, according to the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria.
This is Graham, an interactive sculpture designed by a trauma surgeon, a crash investigation expert and an artist to show how breakable the human body actually is.
“Cars have evolved a lot faster than humans and Graham helps us understand why we need to improve every aspect of our roads system to protect ourselves from our own mistakes,” TAC CEO Joe Calafiore said in a press release. (click on the title to see the full article).

Brooklyn-based Nick Johnson, who happens to be a friend of mine, has publicly declared himself to be the first Pokémon Go player to catch all of the 142 Pokémon that we know are currently available in the United States.
(Per the original video games that Pokémon Go is based on, there are 151 total monsters. We know that there are 142 pokémon you can catch in the United States, plus three more exclusive to certain international regions, but nobody can account for the whereabouts of the other 6.)
Johnson’s journey to Pokémon mastery took a lot of (click on the title to see the full article).

The brain looks like a featureless expanse of folds and bulges, but it’s actually carved up into invisible territories. Each is specialized: Some groups of neurons become active when we recognize faces, others when we read, others when we raise our hands.
On Wednesday, in what many experts are calling a milestone in neuroscience, researchers published a spectacular new map of the brain, detailing nearly 100 previously unknown regions — an unprecedented glimpse into the machinery of the human mind.
Scientists will rely on this guide as they attempt to understand virtually every aspect of the brain, from how it develops in children
